Dr. Richard E. Hoekstra
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Hoekstra was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and attended East Central High School. He studied at Texas A&M University from 1980 to 1988, earning degrees in Biomedical Science, Veterinary Science, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Dallas and opened Animal House Veterinary Clinic. In 2006, he sold the practice and relocated to League City. He has a wonderful wife, four sons, one daughter, one grandson, two Papillons, and two Golden Retrievers.

Kate has been a dedicated member of the veterinary field since 2011 when she began her career as a veterinary technician. During her time at Animal House Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Hoekstra, she completed nursing school, gaining invaluable experience in patient care, teamwork, and advocacy. She currently works as a trauma emergency room nurse and is pursuing her master’s degree. In 2023, Kate stepped into the role of practice manager at Animal House where she combines her love for animals with her commitment to supporting both clients and staff.
Outside of work, Kate is a proud animal lover and pet parent to three dogs, a cat, and two horses. She is also a busy mom to a four-year-old son. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors—especially anything involving water.

Roxie

Roxie has worked in the veterinary field since 2007 and enjoys being a welcoming, supportive point of contact for clients and their pets. As a veterinary receptionist, she’s known for clear communication and advocating for clients.
A lifelong animal lover, Roxie and her husband share their home with a rescue schnoodle, Jett, and have previously owned several beloved beagles. Her personal experience as a pet owner helps her connect with clients on a genuine level and understand the trust they place in their veterinary team.


As a dedicated tech, Haley is deeply passionate about providing high-quality care to every animal she meets. She believes in reforming meaningful connections not only with her patients, but with the clients who trust her with their companions. This combination of compassion, communication, and technical skill is what drives her love for the profession. Delivering exceptional patient care and supportive, trustworthy client service is at the heart of everything she does. She truly treats every animal as her own. She is the proud mom of 9 cats. She loves music, art, and has a green thumb!

Veterinary Technician
Nikki was born and raised in South Oklahoma and studied studio art at the University of Oklahoma. She moved to Texas in 2012 to be closer to family. A lifelong animal lover, she has worked in veterinary clinics in Oklahoma and Texas.
Nikki and her husband Rob have six dogs—Piko, Panda, and Castille (Dachshunds), Icarus and Ruby (Dachshund mixes), and Rovie (Lab)—plus 12 reptiles. In her free time, she enjoys walking her dogs, listening to music, and painting.


Elizabeth, RVT
Veterinary Technician
Liz was born in Louisiana and spent a portion her childhood in southeast Texas. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Tulsa Community College in 2013 and maintains her professional registration with the state of Oklahoma.
She and her husband, Trent, have two daughters, three dogs, a special needs cat, and several aquariums. In her free time, Liz enjoys reading, writing, and running.
Adriana
Veterinary Technician
Adriana was born in Mexico City and moved to the US at a young age. She has been in the veterinary field since 2009, and although she pursued a career in emergency nursing, she has never stepped away from the veterinary world. She has worked alongside Dr. Hoekstra since 2011, bringing years of experience, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
She loves to travel and has lived in many states, including Hawaii, Florida, Massachusetts, and California. Her soul-dog was a Doberman named Luna, who passed away at 14 but remains forever in her heart. She currently shares her life with her husband, two rescue dogs, and two rescue ducks. Outside of work, she enjoys running, going to the gym, hiking, surfing, and photography.


Jon, Dr. Hoekstra's son, has been a member of the team at Animal House for seven years. He served seven years in the United States Air Force and has an associate's degree in art. Outside of work, Jon enjoys time with his dog, Kaylee.
